Once a request is received, the City will make the records available as soon as practical and will notify the requester when they are ready. The governmental body may collect a fee as prescribed by law or regulation for the requested documents. If a fee is not prescribed, the fee shall be the actual cost of duplicating the record.  More information on the charges under the Public Information Act can be found on the Attorney General's website.

Under the Public Information Act, some categories of information do not have to be released. Exceptions to disclosure fall into two general categories: 1) mandatory exceptions that make information confidential and require a governmental body to withhold information, and 2) discretionary exceptions that allow but do not require a governmental body to withhold information. You may find information about mandatory and discretionary exceptions on the Attorney General's website.
