[ARCHIVED] New Rowing Test

Man in gym using rowing machine

The Grapevine Police Department will now be utilizing the Concept2 Rower for the physical assessment used in the police officer hiring process. The rowing test is designed to determine the overall fitness level of the applicant, while challenging both the lower and upper body without placing impact on joints.

Applicants will be evaluated on a timed 2000 meter row. An applicant's specific time is based on gender, age and weight. Grapevine Police use Concept2 rowers, and the damper setting will be set at "5" at the time of the test.

The Concept2 Rower is available at many local gyms, recreation centers and fitness facilities. It is highly recommended applicants use this opportunity to better prepare for the test.

To accurately calculate an applicant’s row time, as well as find suggested workouts to improve their time, please visit the Physical Assessment details on our website at: http://bit.ly/GPDrowing
