Women’s History Month recognizes the contributions women have made throughout history. The Grapevine Police Department celebrates the contributions made by its first female officer, Sue Ann Hanley.
Officer Hanley was hired in 1979 and proudly served the city for 28 years, rising to the rank of Captain in 1999.
Captain Hanley held several positions within the department, from patrol officer and detective, to specialized positions including Public Information Officer and member of the Tarrant County Juvenile Crime Enforcement Coalition.
Her life of service started before her debut as a Grapevine Police Officer. From 1977 to 1980, Hanley served in the US Marine Corps Reserves, where she attained the rank of Sergeant before being honorably discharged.
Women’s history is Grapevine’s history. The Grapevine Police Department is honored to recognize Captain Sue Ann Hanley for being the Grapevine Police Department’s first female police officer and for her dedicated service to the community.
