On Saturday, October 7, 2023, Grapevine Police Chief Mike Hamlin had the privilege of announcing the 2023 Latino Service Awards during Celebra. The department commends all three recipients for their outstanding service:
Grapevine Community Outreach Center Manager Haydee Young - for being a visionary who empowers communities, and whose impact can be seen in the expansion of the after school program VAST, creating the Victim Services program for Grapevine Police, and various outreach programs that unite churches, nonprofits and law enforcement.
121 Community Church Spanish Speaking Minister Arturo Alarcón - for being a beacon of servant leadership in Grapevine who has helped grow 121 en Español, always willing to lend a helping hand in the Latino community, and forging strong partnerships with GRACE, GCISD, the Grapevine Police Department and Community Outreach Center.
Grapevine Police Officer Patrick O'Neal - for cultivating trust, compassion and respect across cultures, and providing interactions and kindness that transcend language barriers.
Congratulations to all three of these inspiring leaders, and thanks to Latinos in Grapevine founder Yvette Lopez for coordinating the awards and making a positive impact in our community.
