CHRISTMAS CAPITAL OF TEXAS® EVENTS 

City Office/Facility Closures & Trash Collection
In observance of the Christmas holiday and New Year’s Day, the Grapevine Public Library will close at 5 pm on Monday, December 23. All City offices, City facilities, The REC, and the library will be closed on Tuesday, December 24, Wednesday, December 25, and Wednesday, January 1. All essential services will operate normally. Trash and recyclables will not be collected on Christmas Day. Trash and recyclables collection will shift from Wednesday to Thursday, and those on a Thursday schedule will shift to Friday, and Friday to Saturday.  The trash and recyclables collection will be conducted in the same manner New Year’s week. Please plan accordingly while crews collect your items the day after your normally scheduled collection day.

Ice Skating at Peace Plaza Ice Rink - through Tuesday, January 7
‘Tis the season to be in the Christmas Capital of Texas®. Experience the Peace Plaza Ice Rink, presented by Baylor Scott & White - Grapevine, and glide across the ice on this Texas sized 4,500-square-foot outdoor ice-skating rink on Historic Main Street. All skate sessions are one-hour with 15-minute breaks (between sessions) for exiting and entering skaters. Fee: $20 per person (includes skate rentals). Guests are welcome to use their ice skates for the same cost.   

Teen Movie: Home Alone – Monday, December 20 - FREE
Home Alone - An eight-year-old troublemaker must protect his house from a pair of burglars when his family accidentally leaves him home during Christmas vacation. Join us in the Teen Zone for a fun and interactive movie screening complete with “Kevin” snacks.

Wacky Wonderland: Puppets & Magic! – Sunday, December 22 
Welcome to the North Pole, one of the silliest places on earth. Meet a penguin with hiccups. Everyone will have to work together to cure him of his hiccups. See sleight-of-hand magic routines involving peppermints, coins, and Christmas ornaments. This show is full of crazy characters and magic that will keep everyone laughing out loud.

Molasses Cookies at Nash Farm in December

Christmas Capital of Texas® Advent Calendar – through Tuesday, December 24
Located on the corner of Main Street and Franklin Street, (across from Tolbert’s), the Christmas Capital of Texas® Advent Calendar will make your holiday season brighter than ever. Visit the calendar each day as you stroll Historic Downtown Grapevine to uncover giveaways from local businesses and organizations. Simply scan the QR code on the calendar to claim your prize. Participating businesses will be posted weekly at GoGrapevine.com on Sundays in December.

Classic Christmas Cartoons and Crafts – Through Monday, December 23 
Children will enjoy Christmas-themed cartoons and crafts all month long. Classics like A Charlie Brown Christmas, Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas, and many more will be shown throughout the month. The Christmas crafts include ornaments, snowman crafts, reindeer crafts, picture frame magnets, and more. The children’s ticket includes a craft activity, a small popcorn, and a beverage (juice box or bottled water). The adult’s ticket includes a beverage (juice box or bottled water). MLK Day of Service – Monday, January 20 
Join us on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day for ‘A day on, not a day off.’ On this day, the American people are called upon to engage in public service and promote peaceful social change. In 1994, Congress designated Martin Luther King Jr. Day as the first, and only federal holiday observed as a National Day of Service. Together, we will honor Dr. King's legacy by actively contributing to the betterment of our communities by participating in outdoor community improvement.
