Kimball Road Improvements – Temporary Closure Begins This Week
Due to high water on a portion of Kimball Road during heavy rain and high lake level seasons, Kimball Road will temporarily close at Snakey Lane and Kimball Road and Lakeridge Drive and Forest Hill Road beginning Wednesday, September 27. To conduct the work needed to install an arch culvert structure (which raises the roadway), crews will keep this portion of Kimball Road closed through the end of the year.
National Night Out – Next Tuesday, October 3
Join our Grapevine first responders for an evening of community-building by promoting police partnerships, engagement, and neighborhood camaraderie. This year marks 40 years for National Night Out bringing communities and police together to meet under positive circumstances and talk about safety. If your neighborhood is not hosting an event, Grapevine residents are invited to join the fun at the Community Outreach Center, 3010 Mustang Drive, on Tuesday, October 3, beginning at 5:30 pm.
Celebra – Grapevine
Join us at Peace Plaza as we celebrate and honor the rich culture, remarkable contributions, and powerful influence of the Hispanic community in the United States – and in Grapevine! The Hispanic culture encompasses a wide range of diverse backgrounds, traditions, and languages. It is a vibrant mix of influences from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. We will celebrate in unity and appreciation for the contributions made by Hispanics across industries, arts, sciences, sports, and so much more! Our Environmental team will host their annual recycling/reuse and paper shredding event inviting Grapevine residents to have documents shredded and to properly recycle other materials at no charge. Keep Grapevine Beautiful Gives Grant – September 1 – October 3
The Keep Grapevine Beautiful Gives Grant provides funding for litter prevention, waste reduction, and/or beautification projects. Your school, business, or organization may receive up to $5,000 to assist with your project. Examples of previous projects include the purchase of water bottle filling stations, trash carts, and landscape improvements. Applications will be accepted through October 3 for the Keep Grapevine Beautiful Gives Grant program, sponsored by Sam Pack’s Five Star Subaru-Grapevine. Join the Grapevine Parks and Rec crew for Sunset Live! at the Botanical Gardens, 411 Ball Street on Friday, October 6 and Saturday, October 7. Enjoy a live music journey down memory lane with classics featuring your favorite genres each night. Bring the family or a date, and your picnic blanket or chairs for an evening under the stars. Children will enjoy the Kidz Zone filled with fun, complimentary activities for their age groups.
Food, beer, and wine will also be available for purchase for those who do not bring their own picnic. VIP tickets are available at GoGrapevine.com/event/sunsetlive/. The VIP experience offers the Bessie Mitchell House as your private event space, with light fare (appetizers), two beverage tickets, early access to the gardens, and reserved seating.
