Litter Ends With Us
Let’s do our part! The Parks and Recreation staff has kicked off a campaign working towards maintaining the cleanest, greenest Grapevine possible. Their efforts encourage picking up and placing trash and recyclables into the proper receptacles throughout Grapevine. Keeping our city parks litter-free can be challenging during holiday weekends but collectively, we can all be the difference by picking up trash and placing it in its proper place. During the month of June, they are asking you show them your litter clean-up efforts by sharing photos of you, your family, and friends making a difference by picking up trash. Tag them using the hashtag #GoGrapevine for a chance to win a limited-edition campaign t-shirt. Let's spread the message of a greener, cleaner, Grapevine together!
Loan A Life Jacket – Available All Summer
The Grapevine Fire Department implemented the Loan a Life Jacket program, making life jackets available to those who visit Grapevine Lake without this life-saving tool. This program was implemented in an effort to educate and prevent loss of life and is in memory of James McKenzie, a Grapevine Firefighter who was enjoying a day at Grapevine Lake with his family and tragically drowned in July of 2016. Each of the City managed boat ramps in the aforementioned has a life jacket station/tree with life jackets for children and adults. These life jackets are to be borrowed and worn while on, in, or near Grapevine Lake - and returned before leaving the boat ramp area(s).
Available in sizes for children and adults, our life jacket trees are maintained by the Grapevine Fire Department and are located at the following Lake Park locations:
- Katie’s Woods, 1700 Katie's Woods Drive
- Lakeview Park, 2100 Lakeview Drive
- Meadowmere Park, 3000 Meadowmere Lane
- Oak Grove, 2520 Oak Grove Loop South
- Rockledge Park, 3600 Pilot Point
- Sand Bass Point, Sand Bass Drive
- Vineyards Campground & Cabins, 1501 North Dooley Street (for use by registered Campground guests)
Remember to BORROW, SURVIVE, and RETURN these life jackets so others may enjoy a safe day at the lake. View additional information regarding the Loan a Life Jacket Program at bit.ly/3aVFbE3.
