Thanksgiving Holiday Closures & Trash/Recycle Collection Schedule
All City offices and the Grapevine Public Library will be closed on Thursday, November 25, and Friday, November 26 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. The REC will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and will reopen on Friday, November 26. Trash and recyclable items that are normally collected on Thursdays will be collected on Friday and Friday’s collections will shift to Saturday. All essential services will operate normally.
It’s Christmas in Historic Downtown Grapevine! - Monday, November 22 – Sunday, January 9 - FREE Experience the magic of the Christmas Capital of Texas® in Historic Downtown Grapevine. Everyone’s favorite Christmas spot is back and better than ever! Enjoy all the decorations along Main Street and a variety of daily performances. As you make your way along this magical wonderland, check out the larger-than-life-sized toy land at the gazebo. There are plenty of photo opportunities throughout downtown with characters, vintage sleighs, life-size Christmas cards, and more! At night, the magic really comes alive with a 40-foot community animated tree, a massive light show at City Hall and a 100% chance of snow flurries. 33rd Annual Carol of Lights – Monday, November 22 – FREE
Rediscover the magic of Christmas as we illuminate Historic Downtown Grapevine during the annual Carol of Lights, presented by Kona Ice, and Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee Truck. The season will kick-off in the Christmas Capital of Texas® with live performances by Eclipse 6, CHHS Panteras, and the GHS Fabulous Fillies. Guests will also enjoy a spectacular light display and breathtaking fireworks at City Hall. Embrace the greatest time of the year with family-friendly activities such as photos with live reindeer, creating seasonal crafts, and savoring tasty food. Free seating and standing room will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. This year, we will have additional viewing screens, activities, and food vendors. Dino Bo: Dinosaur Day This Saturday, November 20
1 – 2 pm: What’s your favorite dinosaur?
This introductory program teaches kids about their favorite dinosaurs including the T-rex, triceratops, raptors, and more. After the presentation, children will have the opportunity to touch and explore REAL dinosaur fossils!
3 – 4 pm: Carnivore vs. Herbivore
In this interactive program, Dino Bo teaches children how carnivores hunted and how herbivores kept from becoming a meal. Utilizing crowd participation and fun props, various scenarios found in the fossil record are acted out. Kids enjoy learning how their favorite dinosaurs defended themselves from hungry carnivores! After the presentation, children are invited to examine real dinosaur fossils from several of the dinosaurs discussed.
Library Café for Adults (every Thursday morning)
All adults are invited to join the library team for mindful coloring, engaging puzzles, conversation, coffee, and snacks. No registration is needed.

Releasing the Body Through Movement – This Sunday, November 21
This class is a series of Somatic Movements guided by a highly trained Somatic Educator to release chronic tension and pain throughout the body. The movements are done mainly while lying down or seated, and are suitable for all body types, ages, and disabilities. These classes are a great compliment to any activity level and/or sport and will enrich your yoga practice by finding more range of motion. All movements are perfect for at home care as well. The Block DFW Dance Classes – Tuesdays in November
Grapevine Parks and Recreation introduces The Block DFW to the roster of children’s dance and movement programs. The Block DFW believes in an atmosphere of respect, kindness, cooperation, and community. They pride themselves on making their dancers feel known and valued while helping dancers grow as artists and individuals. Elves On The Run 5K – Saturday, December 4
The Grapevine Chamber of Commerce Women’s Division is proud to host the 5th annual Elves on the Run, a 5K Kids Run presented by Brinker. This family-friendly community event is in the heart of Grapevine - the Christmas Capital of Texas®! Snacks and beverages will be available for spectators. Meet Santa at the finish line and check out the vendors in his workshop. Show off your holiday spirit in costume. Prizes for the best elf costume, and best-dressed group will be awarded.
