Following a months-long study and observation period, enforcement of the ban on short-term rentals was set to take effect on October 22. On October 18, the City was served with a lawsuit challenging the ban on short-term rentals and requesting that a temporary restraining order be issued to restrict our ability to enforce the ban. Judge Kimberly Fitzpatrick signed the restraining order and a hearing was set for November 1 on Plaintiffs' Application for Temporary Injunction. Until the issue of the temporary restraining order is resolved, the City will not be able to enforce the ban on short-term rentals.
Today, Mayor Tate reaffirmed the City’s position on this issue saying, “We will vigorously defend the longstanding prohibition against short-term rentals to protect Grapevine neighborhoods. People buy homes in neighborhoods, expecting to be surrounded by other residents and not money-making businesses that disrupt the peace, quiet and tranquility of our neighborhoods."
